Ski season guide: Mayrhofen
Season
Usually early December to mid-April; the Hintertux Glacier at the end of the valley is open almost all year.
The drive from Munich
Via the A8/A93 and the Inn valley motorway to the Zillertal exit, then about 30 minutes up the valley road (B169). The valley road is slow on Saturdays.
Busiest travel days
Saturdays are changeover day almost everywhere in the Alps, with queues on the Inn valley motorway (A12) and resort roads. Christmas to New Year, the February school holidays (Germany, the Netherlands, the UK half-term and Scandinavia) and Easter are the busiest weeks – book early and allow extra time for the drive back to the airport.
Our tip
Mayrhofen has two main lifts in the village (Penken and Ahorn) – tell us your hotel and we drop you as close to your lift as possible.
